Addendum (Revisions)
Sep. 17th, 2014 09:52 pmHistory:
Zed’s involvement becomes key after the demons return to Filgaia and he makes his first appearance in front of the party when they’re all on a ship called Sweet Candy. He makes light of the marriage going on before engaging everyone in battle, sure that it was a real battle. When he’s defeating he backs off by... doing a get away straight into what appears to be the ocean. Complete with the splashing.
Next time he makes his appearance in the Volcannon Trap... otherwise known as basically in a place where there are ruins and lava, everywhere. He makes his entrance naturally by smashing through a brick wall and engaging the party in battle. At the end of the battle he remarks something like saying he thinks his ‘refigerator is running’ and then says he lets them off easy as he calmly walks away ... following his defeat.
Next time he’s met by the party it’s when he’s in the Gate Generator and pretty much making sure things are hard for the good guys by moving things around (aka making sure part of the floor falls away from the rest) to try to stop them. After that fails Zed sics a golem on the group, who of course dispatch of it, and cause him to run away.
His voice rings out from behind what should be a locked door that he winds up saying the password for... and it’s ‘password’. Once again quite not so bright.
He’s in the final room in the Gate Generator about to ready to fight against the good guys once more, and saying he wishes he wants to make use of his immortal body Alhazard had given him. It’s thwarted when The Gate Generator turns on due to Zeikfried, who comes onto the scene, taking the spotlight and fights the party while Zed watches on. After watching his leader’s defeat, it’s revealed by Ziekfried that the gate generator is out of control and is heading on a fast track way to destroy everything -- including the demons. So he orders Zed to move on to control the gate generator to send them somewhere ‘there’s no humans’. Complaining about it and reluctantly, he goes to do it, only to be distracted by Hanpan (one of the heroes’ companions). By then, it becomes too late.
The Gate Generator becomes out of control at some point, after Zeikfried falls into it and Zed can only watch. He remarks wondering if Zeikfried would really enjoy becoming the ‘master’ if there was really nothing to rule after everything went to hell and there are no one to rule over. Presumably the Gate Generator implodes at this point and the characters are sent on their way, but safely, surprisingly enough.
Zed then lands somewhere near Saint Centaur and this is where he is being taken from.

Personality/Motivations/Ad nasuem
If there’s one thing Zed aims for most of all it’s attention or popularity. He tries his best to make sure that he’s in the spotlight, no matter what kind of trouble it lands him into. He really wants to become someone that people like and adore -- and at one point mentions in Wild Arms becomming a ‘house hold idol’. Then there is the point where one of the Quarter Knights requires being replaced due to one being knocked off and he hopes desperately he is picked (and is extremely frustrated when he isn’t the one replacing that knight). In the same relation he mentions that Zeikfried’s campaign to end everything that lived wouldn’t help him make himself popular.
He puts forth a lot of effort in this, making a big show out of himself or just making sure that he gives it his all despite if he winds up embarrassing himself in the process. He is shown to be quite a thorn in the side even if he’s seen as a joke, when he goes the full mile (see: his final form being a really tough battle for the party). Although the Quarter Knights like to take advantage of his showy nature when he serves as a distraction long enough when he attacks the party aboard Sweet Candy, allowing Lady Harken to destroy a Guardian statue.
Zed doesn’t like the notion of ‘giving up’ too well, and not only that...but he likes being who he is.
If the player tries to change his name in the game, he rebuttals it with a few words about saying how much he likes who he is and he’d basically never give up his name.
He also has a good side to him, which he showcases after he arrives in Saint Centaur, and meets a human girl by the name of Aura which he winds up befriending as well as helping out after mistakenly attacking the party (believing they would out him as a demon to her). Although he was scared of assisting her by repairing the barrier to the monster-infested town because he thought it’d mean she would leave him, but he did it anyway.
So if anyone would ask what he strives for, it’s to be someone who is recognized, praised, and maybe someone who really, really wants to have friends.
